Food Kompanions

Food Kompanions is a group of people that care deeply about food and nature, tackling complex challenges within the food supply chain. With roots in innovation agencies and methodologies like Design Thinking, they support organisations in finding and implementing innovative solutions according to their customers’ needs.

‘Kompanions’ derives from the latin words ‘cum panis’, meaning ‘with bread’. Accordingly, the word ‘companion’ describes someone you break bread with. As the company is German-based, they chose to use the German ‘K’ for ‘Kompanions’, reminding them of their roots no matter how far and wide their projects lead them.

With the word etymology in mind, I created a playful yet sophisticated logo and identity that could show off their daring, risk-taking side without compromising the reputation for the vast depth of knowledge and experience that this crew has. One challenge the Kompanions came up against was how to bring old-school farmers into the digital age. The bespoke illustrations and type play on this old vs. new battle. Collateral also included icons and infographs as well as printed stationery and web concepts. I also art directed and shot the team photos—messy!
