Over the past few years, I have continually returned to self-portraiture, particularly during long moments of self-reflection. Recently, I have been using it as a means to experiment with style and composition.

This particular self-portrait was painted in the tiny corner of my lounge room (now my studio) in the late evening hours once my son had gone to bed, with two desk lamps my only unflattering light sources. Painted from life.
